NEWS:  IndiaàSubmitted its First National Report (NR1) on the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol to the Convention on Biological Diversity Secretariat.

  • Detailing the country’s implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS).
  • Prepared by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change + the National Biodiversity Authority.
  • The report covers the period from 1 November 2017 to 31 December 2025.
  • 2,76,653 Biodiversity Management Committees have been established across India.

Nagoya Protocol

  • Entered into force: 12 October 2014

  • Protect traditional knowledge associated with genetic resources.
