NEWS: IndiaàSubmitted its First National Report (NR1) on the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol to the Convention on Biological Diversity Secretariat.

- 2,76,653 Biodiversity Management Committees have been established across India.
Nagoya Protocol

- Provides a legal framework for access to genetic resources and fair sharing of benefits arising from their use.

- Entered into force: 12 October 2014
- Ensures fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from genetic resources.
- Promote biodiversity conservation and sustainable use.
- Protect traditional knowledge associated with genetic resources.
