INDIA AND SEYCHELLES: JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE
NEWS: India and Seychelles are conducting the 11th edition of the India–Seychelles Joint Military Exercise called LAMITIYE-2026.
LAMITIYE-2026
- The exercise is being held at the Seychelles Defence Academy.
- It is taking place from March 10 to March 22.
- Aimà To strengthen defence cooperation and military coordination between the two countries.
- “Lamitye” means “friendship” in the Creole language of Seychelles= symbolizing the strong bilateral relations between India and Seychelles.
First Tri-Services Edition
- It is the first tri-services edition.
- Tri-services means participation of: Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force
- They are participating together with the Seychelles Defence Forces.
- Enhances joint operational capability among different military branches of both countries.
Purpose of the Exercise
- To improve interoperability between the armed forces of India and Seychelles
- This includes:
- Sharing strategies
- Coordinating operations
- Using compatible equipment and communication systems
